Data Deletion Instructions

Effective date
19 October 2026
Service operator
Uganda Union of Seventh-Day Adventists

You may ask Bible Study Assistant (AdventShare) to delete personal information associated with your Media Evangelist account or your participation in a WhatsApp Bible study. The procedure depends on whether you are a registered Media Evangelist or a learner.

1. Media Evangelists: delete your account

If you have a registered Media Evangelist account, you can request deletion through the account-deletion option in the Android app or through the website:

https://bsa.uu-adventist.org/account/delete.php

Sign in to the account you want to delete, using its normal phone-verification process, and confirm deletion. Account deletion removes or de-identifies your account name and phone number, removes account access and authentication records, removes associated mission awards, and deactivates existing sharing links.

Learners who were connected to your invitations retain their separate Bible-study progress and records; those records are detached from your deleted account. Some non-identifying historical references may be kept to preserve database integrity. Deletion cannot be reversed. Registering again creates a new account.

2. WhatsApp learners: request deletion of study information

If you have studied through WhatsApp and want us to delete your study-related personal information, email bsa@uu-adventist.org.

Use the subject line: Data Deletion Request — Bible Study Assistant.

In your message, provide:

  • The WhatsApp telephone number used for the study, including its country code.
  • Whether you want all of your learner study records deleted or are requesting a more limited correction or removal.
  • Any other information needed to locate the relevant record, if the number alone is insufficient.

Please do not send passwords, one-time verification codes, identity-document photographs or complete private conversations by email. We may contact you through a suitable verification method before deleting records, to protect them from unauthorised requests.

A learner's records can include their WhatsApp number, study choices and progress, question responses, Bible questions, certificates, and follow-up requests. We will review the requested scope and explain if any information must be retained for a lawful reason.

3. Other requests and requests for minors

You may also use bsa@uu-adventist.org to request access to or correction of your information, or to ask that voluntary follow-up contact stop. Parents or legal guardians may make a request for a minor where authorised by applicable law; we may ask for appropriate verification of that authority.

If your request concerns information exchanged through WhatsApp, note that deleting our copy of a record does not automatically delete messages stored on your device or information that Meta/WhatsApp retains under its own policies. You can manage those separately through the relevant service.

4. How requests are handled

We will review requests, take reasonable steps to verify identity or authority, and respond in accordance with applicable data-protection law. Once approved, we will delete or de-identify information within our control unless a legal obligation or another lawful reason requires limited retention. We will explain the outcome, including any information that must be kept.
